Michael Barone: another imbalance in the press

I would say that this involves much more than some liberal columnists.

Liberal columnists have been attacking Republicans because some of their voters are "birthers," believers in the absurd charge that President Obama was not born in Hawaii and thus is not a natural-born U.S. citizen. But they have failed to identify any "birther" who occupied a position in the Republican firmament comparable to that of "truther" Van Jones in the Obama administration. . . .

I hope that no one is suggesting that we bring back the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" and extend it to newspapers in order to correct an alleged "imbalance in the press".

I personally find the term "media bias" a bit distasteful particularly when it is used solely to tarnish one's political opponents. It also starts getting into conspiracy theories and this or that group controlling the media.

Interesting. I guess this makes me a "birther." Except that I know that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii. We have been allowed to see his Certification of Live Birth which is a legal document and contains information from his Certificate of Live Birth.

However, the reason we aren't allowed to see his Certificate of Live Birth is that it has his daddy's birthplace. Check your own birth certificate. It has all kinds of data. Check Obama's Cerfitication of Live Birth; name, rank, and serial number. That's all.

You see, his father was born in Kenya. The constitution says you must be a naturally born U.S. citizen to be president. That means your parents have to have been born here, too. This is the reason we aren't allowed to see is college transcripts, either.

I wish someone, a-la Daniel Ellsberg, would get Obama's Certificate of Live Birth and college transcripts and stand up and be the whistle blower.

One can hope...

No, "liberal" columnists are not attacking Republicans because "some of their voters are 'birthers.'" The are attacking Republicans who are birthers. I assume that Michael Barone has access to the Internet, just like the rest of us, so his statement is just plain dishonest.

Here is an easily compiled list of prominent Republicans who have either stated that they have doubts about Obama's citizenship or refused to acknowledge the overwhelming evidence that he is a natural-born citizen.

Liz Cheney
Joseph Farrah
Tom Delay
Rep Jean Schmidt R-OH
Rep John Campbell R-CA
Sen Jim Inhoffe R_OK
Sen Richard Shelby R-AL
Rep Marsha Blackburn R-TN
Rep Dan Burton R-IN
Rep John Carter R-TX
Rep John Culberson R-TX
Rep Kenny Marchant R-TX
Rep Ted Poe R-TX
Rep Randy Neugebauer R-TX

Now, do I honestly believe that all of these people are hard-core birthers? No, not at all. I think most of them are merely opportunists who see this as an issue that can be exploited for self-serving purposes.

Markie Marxist sez: "The truther thing doesn't count anymore. We dropped that anti-government stuff as soon Bush was out and our man was in. Dissent is no longer patriotic. The government only does things that are fine and wonderful now."

I don't think that the government conspired to blow up the towers. I don't think 9/11 was a government conspiracy. But I do think that the government could have at least held somebody responsible, and I do think there is a cover-up of information that would prove politically damaging to both parties. Really - not a single person in the government made a single mistake in all the years that led up to the mistake? I guess that makes me a truther.

What honestly troubles me is that my opinion, which is pretty much the same that Jones shares, is considered far more objectionable by almost all the pundits than his open association with Marxism.
