Theatrics, wasting valuable executive time for PR

This shows why you don't want politicians running things. Firms will have to do more of things that don't make much economic sense in order to get the proper PR.

WASHINGTON – Embattled auto company chief executives scored some points with Congress by driving — instead of flying — to the hearings on a possible federal assistance package. . . .

Politicians have absolutely no regards, and probably no understanding of the cost of wasted time.

Here in Canada's province of Quebec, the govt opened 1,600 road construction sites this year, in a province where it's typically below freezing from mid-october to april and where the end of the ground thaw period is mid-may.

The sites were dramatically understaffed, most of them looking empty all summer long.

All the while, the sites were all marked, delimited with orange cones and concrete borders go corral traffic, therefore creating horrendous bottlenecks all over the province, and especially in the dense population centers. Montreal, a 2M pop. center was horrendous to transit through.

I wonder if these politician turkeys ever thought once about factoring the loss of productivity, fuel waste, engine wear, etc from time spent in traffic jams. The monetary cost of opportunity is horrendous. The opportunity cost even bigger.

Delivery delays, business slowed down, etc certainly never crossed those civil servants mind. If it did, it surely made them feel "important" for imposing on us such pains. I wonder how many lifes were uselessly lost to ambulances never getting to the emergency site or back to the hospital in time...

What'd they ask for this trip? $34B?

Cheaper if they just flew their private jets. They only wanted $25B then.

Propaganda as a tool? Surely you jest, Dr. Lott.

Our elected offals, err officials have only the best interests of 'We the people' in mind when they conduct business on our so called behalf.

Are you one of those 'Right Wing' folks who cling to guns and religion? How dare you question the righteousness of our beloved leaders! You should be arrested for thought crimes!

On a less serious note...

When will We the Sheeple, wake up and understand what is occurring here?
