Swedes trying to interfere in the US election

Anyway, that is my take on Paul Krugman getting the Nobel prize. I particularly like this:

"Krugman is not only a scientist but also an opinion maker," economics prize committee member Tore Ellingsen said.

Why else would they mention "but also an opinion maker"? These guys know that the Nobel prize will give Krugman all sorts of publicity before the election.

I remember that debate Krugman and Bill O'Reilly had on Meet the Press a few years ago. O'Reilly called Krugman a socialist and Krugman was tripping over himself to deny it. I'm not sure what someone who advocates a massive welfare state is if not a socialist of some sort, though.

Actually it is the financial meltdown that is "interfering" with the 2008 elections.

McCain's choice of Sarah Palin didn't help matters either. She's a novice when it comes to dealing with the problems that country now faces.

One might reasonably make a similar comment regarding Joe Bidden's choice of a running mate. Oh, wait a minute, Bidden didn't pick him; he picked Bidden. An the inexperienced person isn't running in second position, but as the lead.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw he had been given the award. People are going to think this honor on his academic work is a proof that his partisan filth columnist work fits the mainstream economic consensus.

so where was Obama (the all seeing, all knowing blameless one gifted with infallibility) when the regulator was calling for tighter regulation of the lending and mortgage market?

There was the regulator spelling out the fast approaching problem to the congress critters (while Palin was doing HER OWN job in Alaska)

Did the great infallible one act on what was being said?

Personally, I don't think any of them know the way out of this, and I think it shows.

Just for my own novice view: I think the way which will be chosen is the time honoured method of debasing the currency (printing the way out of it) rather than letting the market correct itself after this reality check.
