Toronto Mayor wants to shut down shooting ranges

Of course, when crime rates fail to fall there will be no push to reverse his decision. The Toronto Star has the discussion here:

Mayor David Miller wants to close recreational shooting ranges in Toronto, along with giving the city power to block gun manufacturers and wholesalers from opening new plants or warehouses.

"Nobody can deny that hobby directly results in people being shot and killed on the streets of our city," Miller said of sport shooting yesterday, amid debate on a possible gun bylaw.

Canadian Olympic pistol shooter and downtown resident Avianna Chao begs to differ. She says that if Miller gets his way, it could mean an end to her sport – and it won't make the streets one bit safer.

Miller wants to terminate leases with two gun clubs that have shooting ranges on city property, one at Union Station, the other at Don Montgomery community centre. . . . .

I find it very difficult to believe anything that man says because of his,( Mayor Miller's )hypocrisy. He has been placed on record as saying Americans lack common sense. Odd from a man whose father was American and is American by birth, you see Miller was born in San Francisco 26 December 1958. His father died in 1960 from cancer. His mother took him to England then they immigrated to Canada in 1967.
You will notice on his web bio he states he immigrated from England with his mother. Not a mention of his father. Further he states I lived and worked in the United States. Never mentions his place of birth. As for election money just look at the Coalition for Gun Control in Canada. President Wendy Cuckier gave him money for his election in 2006. Something is just not right.

The Mayor of Toronto is always good for an anti-firearms rant. He is never constrained by the facts. He makes them up to suit the occasion. This is the man that claimed half on all illegal firearms found were stolen from registered owners. What a whopper! Even his own police service would not back him on that one. Check him out to see how politicians can survive selling pink pills to pallid people or in the American case, snake oil.
