Currently in the State of KS with the Concealed Carry law. If you have an order of protection in place it prohibits you from having a concealed carry permit. (It does not matter if you are the restainer or the restainee.) If you have a permit it will void it while the order is in place. Your comment is very accurate in that even if service is made it often is not worth the paper it is written on. Personally if it was a choice between order of protection and concealed carry I would opt for the concealed carry. I strongly encourage all ladies to look into a handgun as a means of personal protection. If you are not comfortable with guns. If they make you nervous or if you are afraid of them find an NRA safety course and learn more. Join your local range and practice. The more you work with a handgun the more comfortable you will become and you will realize that it is a tool not unlike a power tool. If you don't know how to operate it you run the risk of injury. However, if you take the time to learn more about it and learn how to use it properly it is a very valuable means of personal protection. Remember, gun control laws and bans only keep the guns out of the law abiding citizens that care about upholding the laws. Criminals could care less.
